Portion of the Sea

Lydia Isleworth is 15 years old.  Her mother died when she was a baby so she lives with her father.  Lydia's father is a jolly man but he is sure that Lydia wants a rich man and live in a mansion.  On one sunny afternoon lydia was sitting on the beach enjoying the sun and writing in her diary.  She enjoyed nothing more than writing.  A dark shadow fell over Lydia she looked up and there was a beautiful looking lady standing over her.  Lydia was shocked she had never spoken to a stranger.
"What do you want, I am busy writing so go away" said Lydia rather rudely.
"I only wanted to see what you were doing; I can guess you love writing; I have a journal here.  It's about a girl called Ava" said the stranger.
After a little conversation Lydia decided to take the journal from the woman she promised to take great care of it.
"Oh yes I forgot my name is Marlena I live over there"She pionted to a little cottage.

So Lydia learns to take care of herself and have a happy life.

Titanic Yong Survivors Ten True Tales

The RMS Titanic is the biggest and greatest ship ever built.  She sank on April 15 1912 in the Atlantic ocean.  It took 1 or 2 hours for the Titanic to sink.  1,502 people went to the bottom of the ocean; luckily 700 people survived.  She carried 2,224 passengers and crew.  There were only lifeboats for half the people on board but the crewmen didn't fill the boats because they were unsure about the weight.

This book is about ten young survivors who are on the Titanic and happen to watch the Titanic sink.

Turtle in paradise

Eleven year old Turtle knows that life is not a happy and Hollywood ending.  Money is scarce and so are jobs.  Turtle's mother is signed up for a housemaid, but when Turtle arrives with her mother her employer is extremely alarmed that Turtle's Mother would bring a child to her house.  So that was that, Turtle had to say goodbye as quick as a wink: no hugs no kisses, just hop in the carriage and off to aunt Minnie's house in the countryside.

It's not a peaceful and calm little village; it's dirty and dusty, and when aunt Minnie steps out of the front door she is alarmed to see that her sister isn't there.  So that's how life goes on with the gross food and all the little boys in the street (and her cousins) teasing her about the name, Turtle.  But one day when her uncle comes home everyone is a little nicer to her. Sadly, that only lasts two days and everyone is mean.

On one warm afternoon Turtle visits her gran's house and discovers a map in the old rusty piano: a treasure map!

Will Turtle and her cousins find the treasure on the island?

The Considine Curse

Mariel doesn't know that she has long lost cosins and aunts and uncles.  There is a wierd thing about the Consodine family because every night Mariel (the normal cosin) wakes up and finds a bed empty and a window flung open.

Will Mariel ever discover the great mystery about the Consodine?

I would recommend this book for children from 9-14.

My Story: Titanic

It's 1912, Margaret Anne Bradny dreams of leaving the orphanage behind.  She can hardly believe her luck when she is asked to come aboard the Titanic the biggest and greatest ship in the world.

On the night of April 1912 she is woken, lots of passengers think it's nonsense that the titanic will sink but in the end they were wrong because 1500 people lost their lives and 700 survived.  Will Margaret Anne survive the Titanic or will she sink to the bottom of the ocean and rot there.

I would recommend this book for people who like adventure stories and tragic stories.

My Story: War Nurse

It was another ordinary Sunday when Kitten and her family heard the bad news. Germany was invading Russia and some other countries and now it was England's turn.

Kitten is forced to be a War nurse like some of her friends.  Will Kitten survive the back-breaking work in the ward?  She dreams of doing some real nursing but when she does it isn't sure she wanted it.

I would recommend this book for people who adore tragic stories.

Odysseus

I thought that when Odysseus and his crew went to the island of the Cyclops with its

sweet smell and sheep gazing in a feild that it was going to be something nice, but it's really gruesome when they shove an olive branch into his eye!

I wonder what happens to Penelope and Telemachus when Odysseus is on his big adventureus journey to Troy.

I would recommend this book for people who adore adventure stories.

Diary of the Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel

A valentines dance at Greg's middle school has popped up and has turned his life upside down.  A girl called Abigail was supposed to go to the dance with a boy called Michael Sampson, but Abigail just broke up with him.  Now Greg grabs his chance. At school the PTA is holding school elections but sadly to Greg's disappointment you are not allowed to run for any office if you have got three or more detentions.  Greg does still figure out a way that he can still hold an office.  He asks his best friend Rowley to run for the office and treats his friend like a puppet, Rowley will have to  say everything that Greg wants.  Of course Rowley wins the election since he was the only pupil who signed up to be a Social Chairperson.  In P.E. Greg discovers that he must learn partner dancing for the valentines dance (midnight in Paris).  Greg is extremely worried that he's not going to find a dance partner and while he knows that his friend Rowley is also dateless...

My Sister Jodie

This book is about two sisters Pearl and Jodie.  Pearl is anxious and shy and always comes top in class. 

In Pearl ’ s old school she used  to get teased because she was the teacher’s pet.   

Jodie is not anything like her fabulous sister brash and crazy and never even tries to be the best.

When their parents got a new job at posh Melchester College the sisters were SUDDENLY thrust into a new life.

Pearl has made a lot of new friends.  But  Jodie just mucks about. Once when Jodie’ s class was meant to be writing about a poem she wrote about nonsense.

One fine morning Wilbur finds out that on Christmas eve the Zuckermans are going to  roast poor little Wilbur.

Wilbur burst into tears,  the geese and horses burst out laughing.  That night Wilbur heard a little whisper

“Do you want to be my friend” eh no yes what did you say.  And then it repeated itself “Do you want to be my friend”

I would recommend this book from six to ten.

The Land of Stories The Wishing Spell

This story is about Alex and Conner Bailey. They drop into a book of magic and adventure. How can they save themselves?  Hot behind them the evil queen follows them.Conner was as always dreaming away and before you new it he was asleep.  Then miss Green spoke up and said "MR;BAILEY how dare you sleep in my class".  When they got home to their suprise was grandma, Alex slowley but bravley walked up to her.  " oh la la you starteled me, come on then let's go inside.  And she put her arm around Alex and frog marched her inside.

The reason I really enjoiyed this book is because Grandma gives them a book that is filed with magic and love.  And one day after school Alex SUDDENLY fell into the book.  they have to find five items so the fairygodmother can bring them back to the normal world.  But guess what the twins Grandmother is the fairygodmother.  That meens the twins Dad was born from the Land of Stories.
