The No.1 ladies detective agency is run by Mma Ramotswe. it is situated on Kgale Hill, in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana. All her agency has is: a tiny white van, two desks, two chairs, a telephone, an old typewriter, a teapot and three mugs - one for herself, one for Mma Makutsi, and one for her client. it what else does a detective agency need? Mma Ramotswe constantly refers to the "Principles of Private Detection" by Clovis Andersen. she uses this as her professional bible.
When Mma Ramotswe opened her detective agency she wasn't expecting any clients, but sure enough a client came with an exciting case - the case of a missing man. He disappeared on the day he was baptised. Mma Ramotswe had her suspicions. He was baptised in a river, and as this is in Botswana this is not without risks. In solving this case she has funny mishaps along the way.
This is the first of a series of books about Mma Ramotswe's adventures. They are all funny and exciting to read.
